Maureen Long and her technician Sally Beachboard are performing upper airway endoscopy that uses fiberoptics to visualize the deep recesses of the nasal cavity and throat on a horse suspected of having a respiratory infection. This procedure is used to flush the Eustachian tube (guttural pouch) of the horse in order to obtain a sample for genetic detection of one of the many new emerging diseases of concern for the horse industry.
