A manatee in Homossassa Springs finds refuge from the habitat loss that has afflicted most of Florida’s coastal areas. The Crescent Coast is an exception to that habitat loss, but not so for boat propellers. Still, manatee numbers are currently stable in the Crescent Coast area because of the lack of development and abundance of quality habitat.
